As a songwriter and performing musician who has been fortunate enough to be invited back to most venues, I go by the name Rocky Greenwood (which is my "porno name" taken from my childhood pet Rocky, our faithful german shepard, and the street where I grew up: Greenwood Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland). I started using a stage name for fear that I might be stalked by obsessive fans (or, even worse, not stalked and aware of the lack thereof). My favorite musicians include:

My favorite fiction authors are William Gibson (also check out the aleph fan site), Cory Doctorow, Douglas Rushkoff, Charles Stross (perhaps the only major novelist who apparently writes in vi) and Max Barry. Max also developed and is hosting a hilarious web-based game called Nation States (highly recommended fun).
If I were stranded on a desert island with a satellite dish and a DVD player, I would want to watch Lost, reruns of Jake 2.0 and Dark Angel, The Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic, and YouTube (ok, this will require an internet connection but it IS my island!).
When I am itching to spend money, my favorite companies include:
- Amazon.com (from whom I bought over 120 books last year thanks to that damned "one-click")
- eBay (the best place to buy socks for your Six Million Dollar Man action figure)
- Apple Computers (the ultimate "merchants of cool")
- Blue Mountain (the ultimate for people too lazy to sign and mail a "real" greeting card)
